Plastic use and pollution was first recognized at an international level to be a threat to marine life.





San Francisco became the first city in the U.S. to completely ban plastic bag use.





States such as California, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Maine, New York, Oregon, and Vermont because some of the first to ban single-use plastics
 




Since laws have not been especially enforceable places such as New York continue to issue plastic bags especially during the COVID-19 pandemic



The U.S. Department of the Interior seeks to phase out single-use plastics in places such as national parks and public lands
















What can I do?


The use of Single-use plastics can be outlawed or extremely reduced by enacting legislation that bans its use on a state or national level.
